A Few Suggestions to Avoid getting Sea Sick
My first cruise experience was so much fun, until ..... I was on my first cruise to Alaska and the ship was returning to port, when we encountered a storm in the Pacific Ocean. WOW! 30 foot waves. Nausea set in and there was nothing I could do, and even crawled on the floor of my stateroom to the restroom. I was not feeling well at all!
The very next day, I went to the spa onboard the cruise ship, and told them how I loved to cruise, but I never wanted to feel that bad ever again.
I have been on many many cruises since then, and when other cruise passengers are having problems, I tell them what has worked for me. Every time, those passengers find me and thank me for what I am about to tell you.
Since I followed the cruise spa personnel suggestions, I have never been sick again, even in the worst weather.
So, here are some suggestions that were given to me many years ago, and so for it has worked for me..
What so many people do not realize, it is your stomach that is causing you to be sick.
1. Eat rolls and bread, and lots of it. It soaks up the water in your stomach that is moving around.
2. Go to the lower decks onboard. The higher up you are, the more movement of the ship.
3. Now, I know we are all suppose to drink lots of liquids, but at sea, try to cut down on the liquids, especially alcoholic beverages. And, if you really want to drink alcohol, then have a beer. There is something in beer that helps settles a queasy stomach. But, again, not to much. You will want to drink enough liquids not to get dehydrated or make you sick, so you do need to watch this. And, if you are unable to drink alcoholic beverages for any reason, then do not drink it.
4. Cool off. Go sit in an area where it is a little cooler.
5. Stay out of the elevators in rough seas.
6. Never try to force yourself to regurgitate.
I do not know if these suggestions will help you, and by all means, I am not a doctor or claim to be an expert on sea sickness.
I only followed the advise of spa cruise personnel and it has helped me every time I have cruised, so for!
If any of of the suggestions that I have mentioned are not agreed to by your doctor, then by all means follow your doctors recommendations.
Always get your doctors recommendation anyway if you have a tendency to get sea sick, or if you have motion sickness or unbalanced.
Have a wonderful and safe cruise!
